Writing for Puppetry Program Call Out

Terrapin works with puppetry because it uses empathy to destroy reason.

So we can believe that something is alive that is not.

So we can be reminded of our collective humanity by something that doesn’t have it, but seems to deserve it.

We are seeking expressions of interest from writers, theatre-makers and dramaturges who are interested in authoring a narrative to be told through puppetry.

Examples of such narratives are those that feature non-human characters, allegory and a strong presence of imagery that can be adapted to visual storytelling techniques.

The company will commission a number of treatments before moving some to full commissions, all of which will be guaranteed to go into production. Fees for treatments and commissions will be paid at standard industry rates.

Terrapin values a broad representation of Australian voices in the stories that we tell. Please email Artistic Director Sam Routledge on sam@terrapin.org.au with any questions.

We are accepting EOIs until 10 August.
