Adventure, laughs and contemporary Tasmanian Aboriginal culture.

An epic quest of bravery and friendship.

A story with a little bit of truth and a little bit of make believe, one might say A Not So Traditional Story

Once upon a time two kids, Wurangkili (who is keen on adventure) and Timita (who takes a bit of convincing), are crashed upon by an Alien from a faraway land.

Join them as they embark on an epic quest across the island of lutruwita in search of the ‘oldest of old elders’, meeting up with some hilarious and unique friends along the way.

This beautiful and funny production by Terrapin uses masks, shadow puppetry and physical theatre to tell an important story of culture, identity, bravery and friendship.

A Not So Traditional Story is a hilarious, rare and memorable performance that combines Terrapin’s renowned skill in entertaining and engaging children with the voice of a new generation of Tasmanian Aboriginal performing artists (Nathan Maynard, The Season).

ArtsHub“the miniature shadow puppetry is elegantly designed and presented, with little tricks of revelation and transformation. The exquisite masks of the animal characters are a wonder.”

Witness Performance – “Beautifully, meticulously created and wonderful to watch.”

The Age – “Theatre with so much heart, buoyed by a mischievous sense of fun.”
